On September 20, the steel cofferdam of Qingshan Yangtze River Highway bridge constructed by Qingshan shipyard of China Yangtze River shipping group was successfully launched on the horizontal comb slide of the plant. This is the largest bridge steel cofferdam in the world built by China so far, and also another important breakthrough made by the plant in the transformation and upgrading of product structure.

The world's largest steel cofferdam built and launched by Qingshan shipyard is the steel cofferdam project of the North Main Tower Pier of Qingshan Yangtze River Highway Bridge. The bridge is constructed by China Railway Bridge Bureau. It is a river crossing channel of the Fourth Ring Road in Wuhan. The bridge is located about 700 meters away from the east end of the Tianxingzhou civil dike and about 1.8 kilometers away from the end of the continent. The total length is 7548 meters, including the cable-stayed bridge of the main channel crossing the South Branch of Tianxingzhou of the Yangtze River with a total length of 1638 meters and the approach bridge and beach bridge on both sides with a total length of 5910 meters.

The overall design of the steel cofferdam is dumbbell shaped, with a length of 103.8 meters, a width of 43.4 meters, a height of 18.2 meters and a draft of 5.3 meters. It is assembled in three sections, with a height of 18.2 meters, 14.8 meters and 4 meters respectively. The design volume of the bottom section is about 4000 tons, and the floor area is about 10 standard basketball courts. The steel cofferdam is the largest among the bridge steel cofferdams constructed in the world in terms of size and tonnage. Before that, the largest steel cofferdam was the steel cofferdam for the main pier of Tianxingzhou bridge (70.5m long, 45m wide, 15.83m high and 3100t weight) constructed by Qingshan shipyard in 2004.

During the whole construction process of the steel cofferdam, Qingshan shipyard overcame the difficulties such as tight construction period, super height and overweight in platform moving and launching, and gave full play to the advantages of technology, hardware and equipment through reasonable organization of construction and optimization of process design; It only takes about two months from the commencement to the smooth launching, which is the shortest construction period among the steel cofferdams of the same grade bridges.
